HIFU
What is HIFU?
HIFU, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-invasive procedure that can treat various conditions such as skin tightening, skin thickening, wrinkle reduction, and lifting. It works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production and enhancing tissue elasticity using ultrasound energy and heat to firm, thicken and tighten your skin. HIFU is considered safe with minimal discomfort and no downtime. Results can last for at least 12 months.
At Luxe & Lavish Health & Beauty Clinic, our qualified therapists pride ourselves on using a medical-grade HIFU device that is both TGA approved and award winning for its efficacy. This ensures that our clients receive safe and effective treatments, achieve maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality services.
Results
Your lifestyle plays a key role in how well your skin responds to HIFU. Here’s how you can support the best possible outcome:
Smoking/Vaping: These impair blood flow and collagen production, limiting your results. Quitting beforehand helps your skin heal and firm better.
Sun Protection: Sun damage weakens skin and can reduce your results. Always wear sunscreen and limit sun exposure before and after treatment.
Skincare Routine: Harsh products can irritate and weaken your skin. We recommend Eminence Certified Organic skincare — clinically proven, gentle, and designed to firm and strengthen your skin for better HIFU results.
Diet: A healthy diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants boosts skin health, while a poor diet can slow your progress.
Hydration: Well-hydrated skin is more elastic and heals faster. Drink plenty of water before and after your treatment.
Stress Management: Chronic stress affects your skin’s ability to heal. Relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga can enhance your results.
Alcohol: Excessive drinking dehydrates the skin and increases inflammation. Reducing alcohol intake supports better healing.
Sleep: Poor sleep slows skin regeneration. Aim for quality rest to help your skin recover and lift beautifully.
Exercise: Regular exercise boosts circulation, nourishing your skin and enhancing your HIFU results.
Overall Health: Taking care of your general health helps your skin stay strong, improving your treatment outcomes.
Preparation
To ensure optimal results and safety during your HIFU treatment, it is recommended to avoid
using retinoids, BHA (beta hydroxy acid), and AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). These active ingredients can sensitise the skin and increase the risk of irritation or adverse reactions during and after the HIFU procedure. It is recommended to discontinue the use of these potent exfoliating and resurfacing agents at least a week prior to your HIFU session to ensure optimal results and minimise potential side effects.
In addition, it is recommended to arrive with a makeup free face and to avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medications.
Downtime
Following a HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment, patients may experience minor side effects such as redness, slight swelling, and tenderness in the treated area. These effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days. Some individuals may also notice tingling or numbness, however this typically resolves quickly. Overall, the downtime after a HIFU procedure is minimal, allowing patients to resume their regular activities immediately post-treatment.
After undergoing a High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment, there are certain precautions to be aware of within the first 24 hours.
It is recommended to avoid:
1. Intense Physical Activity
2. Hot Baths or Saunas
3. Direct Sun Exposure
4. Anti-Inflammatory Medication
5. Consuming Alcohol
