HIFU
HIFU, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-invasive procedure that can treat various conditions such as skin tightening, skin thickening, wrinkle reduction, and lifting. It works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production and enhancing tissue elasticity using ultrasound energy and heat to firm, thicken and tighten your skin. HIFU is considered safe with minimal discomfort and no downtime. Results can last for at least 12 months.
At Luxe & Lavish Health & Beauty Clinic, our qualified therapists pride ourselves on using a medical-grade HIFU device that is both TGA approved and award winning for its efficacy. This ensures that our clients receive safe and effective treatments, achieve maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality services.
What is HIFU?
Lifestyle habits play a crucial role in influencing the effectiveness and outcomes of HIFU treatment. Here's an improved list of lifestyle habits that may affect HIFU treatment:
Smoking/Vaping: Smoking & vaping can impair blood circulation and reduce collagen production, hindering the skin's ability to respond optimally to HIFU treatment. Quitting smoking/vaping prior to treatment can improve outcomes.
Sun Protection: Excessive sun exposure can accelerate skin aging and compromise skin health, potentially diminishing the effectiveness of HIFU treatment. Sun protection measures, such as wearing sunscreen and avoiding prolonged sun exposure, are
important for preserving skin quality before and after HIFU.Skincare Routine: Certain skincare products or treatments, such as harsh exfoliants or irritants, can sensitise the skin and interfere with HIFU treatment. We recommend using Eminence Certified Organic products that are free of harsh chemicals, clinically proven to improve the quality of your skin and are results driven to effectively aid in firming skin for optimal results.
Dietary Habits: A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants can support skin health and enhance the effects of HIFU treatment. Conversely, a poor diet lacking essential nutrients may compromise skin quality and impact treatment outcomes.
Hydration: Adequate hydration is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and promoting healing after HIFU treatment. Patients should ensure they are well-hydrated before and after treatment to optimize skin condition and recovery.
Stress Management: Chronic stress can negatively affect skin health and impede the body's ability to heal. Practicing stress management techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises may improve treatment outcomes.
Alcohol Consumption: Excessive alcohol consumption can dehydrate the skin and contribute to inflammation, potentially affecting the skin's response to HIFU treatment. Moderation or avoidance of alcohol before and after treatment may be advisable.
Sleep Quality: Inadequate sleep can impair skin regeneration and collagen production, which may impact the results of HIFU treatment. Prioritizing good sleep hygiene and ensuring adequate rest before and after treatment can support optimal skin health and recovery.
Exercise Routine: Regular exercise improves blood circulation and promotes overall skin health, which can enhance the effectiveness of HIFU treatment. Engaging in regular physical activity may help maximize treatment benefits.
Overall Health Maintenance: Maintaining overall health through regular medical check-ups, managing chronic conditions, and following recommended lifestyle guidelines can positively influence skin health and treatment outcomes.

Preparation
To ensure optimal results and safety during your HIFU treatment, it is recommended to avoid
using retinoids, BHA (beta hydroxy acid), and AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). These active ingredients can sensitise the skin and increase the risk of irritation or adverse reactions during and after the HIFU procedure. It is recommended to discontinue the use of these potent exfoliating and resurfacing agents at least a week prior to your HIFU session to ensure optimal results and minimise potential side effects.
In addition, it is recommended to arrive with a makeup free face and to avoid taking any
anti-inflammatory medications.
Downtime
Following a HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment, patients may experience minor side effects such as redness, slight swelling, and tenderness in the treated area. These effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days. Some individuals may also notice tingling or numbness, however this typically resolves quickly. Overall, the downtime after a HIFU procedure is minimal, allowing patients to resume their regular activities immediately post-treatment.
After undergoing a High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment, there are certain precautions to be aware of within the first 24 hours.
It is recommended to avoid:
1. Intense Physical Activity
2. Hot Baths or Saunas
3. Direct Sun Exposure
4. Anti-Inflammatory Medication
5. Consuming Alcohol
